The in your home is essential for breathing easy. If you have found that the in your home is becoming stale, there are a few things that you can do for very little money. The toxins in your air can lead to severe health issues if you are not careful. Here are a few ways that you can easily improve the in your home.

Vacuuming twice a week is imperative to having good air quality. This is especially true if you have pets. Pet dander and hair can get trapped in your carpets. When you walk around it spreads into the air and can make the air quality poor. Set up a schedule for vacuuming the carpet in your house on a weekly basis. Wednesday and Sunday are the best times to do it because your carpets can usually get dirty in the span of about 3 days.

Change Every Month

HVAC technicians will tell you to change out your air filters as needed, but it’s best to do it every month. Air filters are not the expensive and they can easily improve the air quality in your home. Check the air filters on a monthly basis and change them once they look brown. Many people choose to vacuum their air filters every week to keep them in good shape. Air filters are cheap enough to change monthly without breaking the bank.

Add Plants

Plants are a great way to improve the air quality in your home. Plants will replace the carbon dioxide in your air and allow more oxygen. Place some plants around your home and you should find the air quality better. Smaller trees and flowers work well and add to the décor. Make sure that your plants are getting enough sunlight. Your living room and your kitchen are great for plants, but placing a plant in your bedroom will also help the air quality.

While this is not the cheapest idea, buying an air purifier is a great way to improve the air quality in your home. Changing out the air filters can only do so much. Having an air purifier in your home can easily get all of the dust particles out of the air and remove even more carbon dioxide than plants. You can find air purifiers at home improvement stores or through online retailers.
