A money-saving wonder for those of us who drink lots of soy milk, almond milk, rice milk, or even sesame milk. Stop buying $4 cartons of soy milk, and start buying 50-cent bags of soybeans, soak them in water for 8-10 hours, put them in a soy maker, push a button, and wait. Can you guess what comes out?
If you’re thinking Love Potion #9, then you’ve probably got too much oldies music on your mind. The real answer is soy milk, without preservatives, additives, or anything, really, except soy and water. Or rice, or whatever you put in there before you pushed the magical button. Add some chocolate powder, vanilla extract, banana puree, or why not all three? Confuse your palette, have a party. Make up a totally new soy milk flavor!
According to their site, the Miracle Soy Wonder Automatic Soy Milk Maker makes 2 quarts of soymilk in just 22 minutes from common organic soybeans and water.
So if you’re a lactard that buys even 1 $4 soy milk or rice milk carton a week, you’ll be saving about a $3 a week, which, if handily equipped with the amount of weeks in a year, is a savings of over $150 a year, which is close to the price of the machine itself.
For the heavy drinkers among us, the savings are even bigger. And how much more American can you get than a machine where you just have to push one button?
There is, however, one precaution. According to recent scientific research, soy contains something called isoflavones which chemically mimic the female sex hormone estrogen. So if you’re a man, keep a lookout in case you start growing soy-induced breasts. If that happens, let us know and we’ll blog about it.
